Chinese Traditional Cupping

Cupping is an Ancient Chinese Therapy, the cups are applied to the skin. Cupping started around 281 AD.

Because of the cups pressure it holds the skin so the superficial muscles go inside the cups. Sometimes the cups get moved around so this is called Gliding cupping. They place oil over the body first it they want to go gliding cupping. The cups can be placed in a certain acupuncture or other wise points that are being affected or sore.

Cupping is normally performed or done on the back of your body. Glass cups are generally used. They might use Bamboo cups but that is rare. The cups stay on your body for 10 to 15 minutes and by that time your back with be purple.

Reflection on Skype call with America

On the 20th of November we got a very special opportunity to Skype a school of year 6`s in America. We Skype Nevada, Las Vegas.
The foods that Summerset Academy loved were cookies, Steak, pizza, hamburgers, KFC. We said that our favourite Aussie foods were Tim tams, Fish and chips, Vegemite, Carmelo Koala. I said to the Americas do you like s mores which it like a vita wheat biscuit with melted chocolate and a marshmallow. In the end it makes a sandwich.

The school in Las Vegas was called Somerset Academy. We didn`t talk about China we spoke about USA and Australia what we loved about each other’s countries. I think it was good to talk to something different. I think it was really nice that Summerset Academy stayed after school to connect with us because that would be the only time we could connect with them otherwise we would have to be at school at 7:30 and earlier.

We took turns of asking each other questions, some people asked funny questions and we all had a laugh. For example they asked us do we like Vegemite and we all shouted yes and had a bit of a laugh.
We also talked about the different in America and Australia’s Christmas`s our Christmas is quite warm and there’s is quite white and cold. I personally think from experience that American`s Christmas`s are more decorated than ours. What I am trying to say is that they get into the Christmas spirit more than us.

Saturday morning coffee and preparing for an Aussie Christmas

It was nice to talk to students, which made the talk a bit more fun and interesting because we had a lot of laughing and good questions. Also children give a different perspective to adults.

Skype call to Harry from Beijing

On the 31st of October we caught up with a guy called Harry who lives in Beijing.Beijing is the Capital of China. The population in Beijing currently is 11.51 billion people in 2000. Flight time from Adelaide to Beijing, China is13 hours. The area for Beijing is 16,801 Km2. It was amazing to get to see Harry today because last Skype call we could only hear them, which was a down side to that call. Harry was very funny and gave us very understandable information back.

I found this video that best explains and gives you a little tour of Beijing, China. I choose this video because it is very clear to see what is happening and what Beijing looks like.

One of my best friends asked Harry my question which was, do you prefer Australian food or Chinese food. Harry said.

I am probably used to Chinese now. What even when I am in Australia visiting family I will still look for a Chinese restaurant. For instances I had the option out of a burger or Chinese I would choose Chinese. Or a Hot dog I would rather have Chinese. Also it is really healthy and good for you.  At the university they basically have every Chinese food you would ever want.

Someone from a different class asked this question. Do you think the government system is fair? He didn`t answer this particular question for the following reasons.
Firstly, because someone from the government might be listening to your conversation, and if he says anything good or bad he will most likely thrown in jail. Secondly, it is a very stricked country.

I also found out my Edmodo group for this terms project and we were all assigned different things associated with China. My group is doing Cooking and food. From my class I have me, Harry and I think Jesse.

First Lesson on Ancient China

Today`s lesson was on Ancient China`s Hierarchy and Dynasty. If you don`t know what these words are a Hierarchy is a system of people ranked one above another. For instances in Ancient China the highest person ranked would be a emperor or King. Dynasty is when one family rules over country for a long period of time.

As you can see I have pasted a picture of an Ancient Chinese Hierarchy.

The hierarchy works like this. The ruler in China is and Emperor which means sovereign ruler of an empire. Ranked second would be the King and Governor. The male ruler which is a King, his job is to rule over an independent state.
Ancient Chinese Hierarchy
A governors Judy is to lead ta town or religion. Third in the hierarchy is the State Officials plus Nobles and Scholars. A noble is a person showing excellent personal qualities or and high moral principles. The second least important people are the peasants. The peasants are like us people who can afford food etc. Lastly there are the slaves, soldiers, Merchants, and Artisans. These are the the people who maybe in poverty or have very little money. Or they work for someone higher them themselves on the hierarchy.

Xia Dynasty was the first Chinese Dynasty. Xia Dynasty was ruled around 2070
BC to around 1600 BC. Then the Shang Chinese Dynasty took control. They are still debating whether Xia Dynasty did exist. Or was it just a Chinese legend. How do we know about this? Xia is recorded in ancient Chinese writing. What makes it the first Chinese Dynasty? Xia Dynasty, the king was chosen to be king because of ability. Xia Dynasty began when the kingdom was passed down to relatives. Xia Dynasty they have many different emperors, for instances Kongjia is the son of Bujiang and order number 14. Another person is Gao son of Kongjia and order 15.

Online Global Collaboration

Netiquette is a fancy word for Internet etiquette, they combined these words and created netiquette. Netiquette is when you are communicating on tablet or android, especially the internet.

Global collaboration is when you connect with people you may not know online.  For instances collaborating and sharing with others. I call the social learning.

Connect with people from anywhere to anywhere in the world using our knowledge. We connect and contribute as a group by sharing and collaborating. We get a opportunity to build relationships, learn new things, and get different options.

Contributing goes around like a cycle. We all contribute to something and it goes around.

I researched information on collaboration and I have learnt a new word called “Cultivate” it means to add, comment, debate, and improve. Like when you engage in a conversation.
Cultivate

Our teachers have created a global group on Edmodo including 8-13 people in a group. There are people from New South Wales, America and China etc. So that means we will have different time zones.
Global Collaboration

Time zone will affect or collaboration so the best time for us to connect with America is after school. Plus China is two hours and a half behind Adelaide, South Australia Time.
I found this outstanding video on Global Collaboration. This is the best video you ar egoiong to find about Global collaboration because it tells you everything you want to know. This video increase my knowledge a lot, so I hope it does to you as well.

First Skype Call

On Friday the 23rd of October we connected with China using Skype. We got a one in a life time opportunity to speak we a adult who lives in China. His name was Nitin he lives in Nitin, China. We asked Nitin some respectful and well thoughtful questions about China. Nitin was very open and gave us plenty of information about the questions we asked him.

Liana is a friend in my class, she asked a vitally important question about China today. What are the two main environmental issues currently in China?

Nitin response was
" Probably food safety and air pollution. Why air pollution and food safety. Air pollution because of all the factories creates smoke, which is air pollution".
I personally thought it was spectacular to meet NitinNitin has a website called Green Initatives. Go check out -- website and see how you can help China today http://greeninitiatives.cn/
